Its turnover in 2005 was 10,446 thousand euros (+16.7%% compared to 2004). But after a year that ended with a loss of 100 thousand euros against a profit of 336 thousand in 2004, the company decided to diversify its activities. Now in addition to the textile Basikdue SpA is present in the electricity sector, with seven hydropower plants in locations Quarona (Vercelli), Pessinetto (Torino) Varallo (Vercelli). Other acquisitions are still ongoing in this field: he had tried to win the paper mill along the Ormea Tanaro acquired instead of the ea Pornassio Energy, a company whose business is soprattutto la produzione di energia elettrica” – spiega Vittorio Contestabile, della società imperiese.
A business that has not escaped the industry of northern Italy, but which has left local entrepreneurs indifferent too engrossed in political maneuvering low profile, but then complain about being excluded out of the deal, trying to involve the City of Subiaco to salvage an unlikely recovery in the former industrial complex, demanding their ropes to a role that maybe they believed to dynastic right.
However, in both cases, employment levels, which operated the paper mill in Subiaco will be lost, because the horizon is mere speculation on hydroelectric concessions, while the fate of the entire complex mystery surrounding the more dense. Late
the reaction of the City of Subiaco, still trying to shed crocodile tears for the lack of acquisition of the paper mill by Gaia, who wanted to start a project widely opposed by local people, but sponsored by the Town Council, heedless of environmental risks that it entailed.
Probably this Administration lacks the will, but above all the strength, to determine the fate of an industrial complex that for centuries has been a source of income for thousands of residents Subiaco, and is set to become a source of income for foreign entrepreneurs in this area.
